Scouts

Scouts is the third section in the Scouting family, Scouts are normally 10 1/2 -14yrs old.

We have two Scout troops Tuesday Scouts are led by Skip (Ron) with Sedge and Sarah and Thursday Scouts are led by Mike with Gareth and Gemma.

The Scouts meet at the Scout HQ from 19.00 – 20.30 both evenings.

Scouts are at the age where they can experience the true adventure that scouting has to offer – from arts and crafts in the meeting place to jumping off cliffs, climbing, sailing, hiking, raft building and much more! We aim to give scouts a wide range of experiences so they can learn lots of practical and personal skills along the way.

The Scouts had lots of opportunities for nights away experiences from the ever popular Backwoods camp where they build their own shelter and sleep in it and cook all their meals on fires.  We also attended the District JAWS camp where we took part in kayaking, raft building, archery and axe throwing.  They also took part in the County Hunger Games camp where they learnt skills on the Saturday and in the evening took part a challenge and evasion which unfortunately had to be shortened because of the non stop rain.  One of our girl scouts was amongst one of the last ones to be caught.

During the year the scouts had the opportunity to visit Tidworth camp and complete the Mechanics badge.  In the Summer term they built a bridge over  a lake using their pioneering skills and then walked  over it, only one managed it without falling in!
