Preparing for return to Face to Face Scouting.

Thank you to all the volunteers who helped clear the outside of the building in preperation for a safe return to scouting.

Following the Scout Association guidelines for a return to scouting we can meet outside with a maximum of 15 people.

As part of the preparation we asked our parents their thoughts on returning to Face to Face scouting which means that we hope to be able to return in September for all sections except Beavers which will review at October Half Term,

Scouting continues despite Covid 19!

Covid 19 has not stopped us scouting and whilst we have not been able to meet Face To Face we have been offering Zoom meetings for all sections.

Beavers completed their International Badge, Lego Challenge and enjoyed team building games.

Cubs enjoyed made a cake in a mug and learnt water safety for their Personal Safety badge and the Codebusters escape rooms The Lost Diamond and Mystery of Winston Manor.

Scouts even lit fires at home and toasted marshmallows, thank you to the parents for supervising. They also had a Doughnut eating challenge thank you to Burns the Bread for the Doughnuts they were delicious.

Explorers as they were unable to go to London to take part in the Monopoly Run we ran a virtual game instead. They also enjoyed taking part in the Hogwarts Escape room and had a Minecraft evening.

We also arranged a virtual Drum work shop and an Army Wings virtual visit which was open to all sections.

The whole group took part in the Somerset County Virtual camp, camping in their own gardens and taking part in lots of activities.

Autumn Camp 2018

The Cubs and Beavers went to Woodhouse Park Bristol for our Autumn camp taking part in lots of Adventurous activities from Archery, Low Ropes,Crate Stacking, Climbing, Fire lighting and lots more…

For Beavers it was the first time that they have been sleeping in tents taking part in the Damboree to encourage more Beavers to go camping,

With the help of Tesco Bags of Help donation we were able to purchase new tents and a Gas Griddle so we were able to take 40 young people on camp which we would not have been able to do without their help.

Funday 2018

The Beavers and Cubs have been going to the Funday at Woodhouse Park Bristol for the last 5 years and very year they ask to go back again. From the pictures below you can see the reason why!

Kernow 2017

The Scouts spent a week on the Pencarrow estate in Cornwall attending Kernow 2017.

We had a great week enjoying the different zones.

Sunday was spent getting to know other people on the campsite and finding our way around.

Monday was Kernopoly day where we were given a train ticket to explore Cornwall, our Scouts went to Falmouth and visited the Maritime Museum.

Tuesday we visited the Global Village learning about Shelterbox, Wateraid  as well as the Creative Zone where we had a go at Circus Skills and making a video about famous Scouts and Guides,

Wednesday was mud day! It lived up to its name as it rained all day! We had a go at Zorbing, making and cooking pizza on a fire as well as having a go on the 4 x 4 trail.

Thursday was Splash day visiting Watergate bay for Surfing and Body boarding but we had time for Beach games and sandcastle making

Friday was Adventure Day we had a go at Shooting, Zip Wire, Caving, Laser tag, team building games and lots more  a great way to end the week.

Saturday was time to pack up and come home, muddier and very tired but having had lots of fun!

Thank you to 18th Truro (St George’s) Sea Scouts for looking after us for the week.
